James Akenhead : From a Train conductor to playing poker

James Akenhead, 25 years old British, has two WSOP cashes to his credit. During WSOP 2008 in $1,500 buy-in No Limit Hold’em, he finished as a runner up for $520,000. He also finished 39th in £1,500 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event, which was a part of European celebrations in London. James worked as Train Conductor earlier and now he is trying to become famous on the Poker scene. At the age of 20, he started playing Poker casually and today, he is a professional Poker player.

James plays regularly on Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour and he finished at 4th position in 888.com U.K. Open in the year 2008. He is one of the famous players of Britain, as he joins famous names like David Ulliott, John gale, Liv Boeree, and Roland de Wolfe. In 2007, James won $1,000 poker tournament in buy-in tournament for $41,000, at Bellagio Cup. Since then he has also cashed in France, America, Germany, and Ireland etc. He will be joining Phil Ivey who is seven-time WSOP bracelet winner, at the final table of Main Event 2009.

Two other players who will be making to the table are Eric Buchman and Steven Begleiter, sponsored by Full Tilt Poker. At Main Event final table 2009, James is one of the two non-American players who will be joining Antoine Saout.

Sunny Chattha, James Akenhead, Chaz Chattha, Karl Mahrenholz, and Praz Bansi are the members of Hit Squad. When James joined the new squad of November Nine, Chattha made a remark on the website of Hit Squad that now we all will have a good time and we will surely enjoy.
