Poker finding hard to be accepted by Americans
Though there have been some steps taken towards authorizing online gambling and online poker but the Texas administration reminded that it will take some time for the country to accept poker. Mr. Jose who is a Representative introduced Bill HB 222 anticipating the authorizing of poker in the state which actually launched Texas Hold’em. Nevertheless, the bill was not able to gain much importance and it was deferred without even facing an official voting.
It was in the previous month that the bill got accepted by the committee forwarded to the legislature. Mr. Rick who is the Governor of Texas has been working hard to provide recognition to the game but Mr. Rick pull out the motion from the present consideration. In the state it is known to everybody that Mr. Rick would ban HB222 and if it is stretched more then it will be of no use.
In a statement Mr. Jose quoting the famous song about poker from Mr. Rogers stated that it is very important to know when to fold them and when to hold. HB222 would have declared the poker as a skill based game according to the state laws of Texas. With the expansion of the poker game in the state it will help in profiting the development, wellbeing of the people, tourism, this will bring about new employment opportunities, and additional returns.
The bill had many positive aspects as it offered 15 percent tax on the organizations which offers the game of poker and at the same time levying taxes on the charitable poker tournaments of four percent.
Additionally, the bill would have set up a Poker Gaming Commission which would guarantee the legitimacy and well being of such ventures. In two years time Mr. Jose is planning to suggest one more poker bill expecting that he could assemble 2/3 votes which are required from the administration to conquer rejection efforts by Governor. It seems that his third effort is not much effective.
Turning aside this revenue flow which would have increased from the license fees and taxes, Texas has now chosen to wait for financial release from the Federal Government of America.
