Mr. Dalton, who is the Premier of Ontario area in Canada, has chased the comments made by the Chairman of Ontario Lottery and Gaming this week that more attention should be given towards the participation of the state in the online gambling. The mainstream media of Canada highlighted the statement made by Mr. Dalton that Ontario should give more attention towards the sector of online gambling,

Mr. Dalton in a statement said that the online gambling is an actuality and the government of Ontario cannot stay away from it for long. The main concern is not that we should be a part of it or not and now they are of the view that they should make a call. He also added that this is something they cannot evade. Last week Mr. Paul who is the newly elected chairman of OLG made a comment that they need the state to offer online gambling instead of witnessing the profits going to other regions and offshore websites.

Dr. Jeff, who is an academic with McGill University’s International Centre for Youth Gambling Problems and High Risk Behaviors, said that the governments of Canada are losing the profits which are being used for over two thousand online gambling sites. Dr. Jeff also added that they have conducted many studies. If they are able to get back a slice of it then it can prove helpful for the programs organized by the government. This will allow OLG to provide online gambling.

Dr. Jeff added that they can manage whether or not there will be corner-store sales for the wine and beer, but online gambling is really happening. Now, the situation is what exactly they want to do in this situation. As per the Opposition, the government of Ontario has to take care that the younger generation should not have the access to the online gambling sites.

Ms. Elliott who is a Progressive Conservative critic said that that matter which we will be facing is to deal with the consequences of it. They will be ensuring that they take significant measures in order to mainly safeguard the younger generation. The politicians of Ontario are keeping an eye on the progress in British Columbia, Quebec, and Atlantic state; they all have shown interest in the sector but they expect appropriate synchronized steps.

The politicians of Quebec have already agreed to Loto-Quebec which has plans to open online poker site in fall of 2010. Mr. Raymond who is the Finance Minister predicted that the state will be able to make dividend worth fifty million dollars after time period of three years. The website for Atlantic Lottery Corporation which is functional for six years has five of the interactive games which comprises of Hold’em Poker. British Columbia provides online poker and enforces a week limit of ten thousand dollars on the gamblers.

The Western Canada Lottery Corp, which manages gambling in three of Prairie areas and three territories, has said that they are not making any plans to move into online gambling. According to an estimate by The US Treasury Department, the online gambling in that country yearly makes sixteen billion dollars in spite of the enforcement actions and governmental limitations.
