Full Tilt Poker expert Erik Cajelais declared as winner in WSOPE 2009 Event 2
Full Tilt Poker’s Erik Cajelais came first in the World Series of Poker Europe Event. He won his first ever World Series of Poker bracelet and cash prize of over US$169K. Erik is 27-year-old Montreal based professional poker player and this is a major victory for him. He has many chances of winning major tournaments in the past. Earlier in US$5KPot-Omaha event, he finished in the second position at World Series of Poker 2007.
World Series of Poker Europe Event 2 with partially of Pot-Limit Hold’ em and partially of Pot-limit Omaha tournament along with a buy-in of GBP2, 498, drew over hundred professional players from different parts of the world to London’s Empire Casino. The first day of the tournament witnessed a fast game play particularly for the exciting Pot-Limit Omaha rounds. In the beginning Erik dominated the game and at the end of the day he was the chip leader.
This fast pace was witnessed on the second day also, ending with an early beginning to the final table. Erik penetrated the final table in the seventh position in chips after entering the day two field. The full packed final table featured 4 ex-bracelet winners comprising of Howard ‘The Professor’ Lederer who is from Team Full Tilt along with Hoyt Corkins, and Men Nguyen. Howard was the first player to get out of the final table, making his way to the rail after his pocket 3s was not able to match against his rival’s A-K.
During the five-handed play, the tournament got suspended for the night at which Erik was the short stack and it seemed like he will be finishing in the fifth position. But it didn’t happen when the game started again the next afternoon. Erik managed to win the sequence of pots to regain his chip lead. Erik conquered the final hour after beating Nguyen in the fourth position. With the start of heads-play, Erik gained 10-1 chip lead over Sweden based Mats Gavatin.
Shortly, Erik in a Pot-limit Omaha he made a full house to beat Mats and claimed his first World Series of Poke bracelet. Erik has managed to earn around US$7.6 million playing live tournaments across the world. After winning, Erik was so happy that he made a sprint to claim his WSOPE Event 3 seat, GBP5, 000 Pot-Limit Omaha championship got started in the afternoon.
